Description
My wife and I have been involved with a local dog rescue Bella’s Bully Buddies for about seven years now. This photo is of a foster dog staring out at the sunrise in deep thought. We only had her in our home for a couple of weeks, and her name was Maggie.
Maggie and I woke up early enough one morning to catch the sunrise. I managed to snap a variety of photos, but this one really stuck with me. The colors were great on the water, bursting with color and enough clouds to make it interesting. Maggie sat there in deep thought taking it all in, the cool morning air, the smells, and feeling safe with her temporary human.
Seven years later, I still get lost in this photo. I sit in deep thought myself wondering what must have been going through her head. Was she thinking about the future? the now? Was she wondering why she had been passed around when she was a perfect pup? Maybe its me and not here that is thinking too much. Maybe she was just sitting there at peace in the new, current situation. Whatever she was thinking, it is no matter as her story has a happy continuation. Maggie is living an incredibly adventurous life with her best friend Jeff. They go hiking and sailing and more. She could not have found a more perfect forever home.
Dog Rescue
Dog rescues, regardless of breed are so imperative to the community. Not only do the really good ones like Bella’s provide support like training, nutrition, and health stability. They also assist local shelters when they are at capacity and keep dogs from being unnecessarily euthanized. Think you may want a dog, but not sure? I’d like to encourage you to volunteer with a rescue. There is nothing more rewarding that my wife and I have been a part of. Find your local rescues, interview them and I promise at the end of the day you will feel full. You can find more of my photos of rescue dogs here.
